Growing up, my biggest lessons came from seeing exactly who I didn't want to become. In my environment, the wrong lifestyle was glorified, and chasing big dreams simply wasn't the norm. Without the right foundational support at home, it was easy to slip into the cracks. I found myself running with the neighborhood kids, picking up the manipulative and survival behaviors of the streets just to fit into the culture around me.

Everything shifted when I met my mentor, Derrick Caldwell, who was the Teen Director at the Hall County Boys & Girls Club at the time. He didn't just tell me to be better; he exposed me to a completely different way of living. He taught me how to articulate my words, how to carry myself with respect in public, and how to make the daily, disciplined decisions that actually move the needle in life.

With that guidance, football became my identity and my ticket out. It opened doors my family had never experienced, eventually leading to the opportunity to play professional football. But life came at me fast. Suddenly, I had a massive platform, with kids from my community and across the country looking up to me because they knew my story.

On the outside, I was presented as the ultimate role model who changed his family's trajectory. But behind the scenes, I was surrounded by the wrong voices and seeking validation from the wrong people. I was taking advantage of the perks of the lifestyle. I found myself mentoring kids to do the right thing, while glorifying the wrong things in my own life. I wasn't practicing what I was preaching.

I had to take a hard look in the mirror. Through those lessons and missteps, I realized that athletic talent without foundational character is a dangerous trap. I had to hold myself accountable and become the kind of man Derrick Caldwell was for me.

I founded PYN Blueprint because I know firsthand that the right guidance can reshape a life, and the wrong environment can tear it down. We use elite athletic training to capture these students' attention, but we use rigorous mentorship and workforce curriculum to actually build their future, ensuring they don't make the same mistakes I did.
